Carboxytherapy

Improve skin texture, cellulite and firmness

At La Sante, our Carboxy Therapy procedure is a popular treatment which uses small injections of carbon dioxide to increase oxygen and blood flow to improve a variety of skin concerns. The treatment has proven abilities to help reduce signs of ageing around the eye area, stretch marks and cellulite.

Carbon Dioxide is a clear, odourless gas we breathe every day.

Following the treatment, expect to see positive changes in fine lines and wrinkles, skin elasticity and collagen production.

The recommended number of treatments and frequency of treatments will depend on the condition of your skin, and the concern being addressed.

Process

Prior to the treatment, a complimentary consultation is recommended where you can meet with Dr Soliman and our experienced practitioners to discuss your skin concerns and goals. We tailor each treatment to your specific skin type, area of concern, and desired outcome.

The treatment consists of micro injections of carbon dioxide injected just beneath the surface of the skin. This stimulates the circulation of blood and oxygen and encourages collagen production, which will improve the appearance of skin.

Injecting carbon dioxide tricks your body into thinking there is an oxygen deficit and as it responds, it increases blood flow. This leads to a surge of oxygen and nutrients to the treated area, which results in cell restoration and collagen rejuvenation.

Preparation

It is recommended that you avoid smoking or consuming alcohol on the day of your procedure (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising).

Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood-thinning medications if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment.

Ensure you have a good breakfast, including food and drink, before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

This treatment is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Aftercare

Refrain from touching the treated area for 2 hours after the procedure. As with any injectable treatment where the skin is punctured, there can be swelling, bruising or tenderness post-treatment which can remain present for several days.

Stretch marks (Striae) or scars can appear raised or considerably reddened post-treatment. This is normal as the process creates an increase of blood flow to the treated area and this usually settles within 24 – 48 hours.

Treatment around the peri-orbital (eye) area can lead to the eyes becoming puffy for a few days. There may be an increase of fluid to the area and this may remain present for 24 – 72 hours.

We recommend eye treatments in intervals of 1 – 2 weeks to allow the area to recover.

Your practitioner may suggest an antihistamine or recommend placing an ice pack to the treated area for symptomatic relief.

What does this help?
  1. Carboxy therapy improves skin elasticity, improves circulation, encourages collagen repair, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area
What is Carboxy Therapy?
  1. Carboxy therapy refers to the cutaneous and subcutaneous administration of carbon dioxide gas [CO2] for therapeutic purposes.
How is Carboxy Therapy Performed?
  1. A small needle is used to deposit the gas underneath the skin. The gas is then absorbed and utilized by the surrounding tissue. By injecting carbon dioxide, blood circulation is increased to a specific area. When the blood cells reach the area, they create an increase in circulation
Is it painful?
  1. You may feel some discomfort/pressure when the gas is administered, but this doesn’t last very long, and resolves within a few minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
  1. Most people need 6 to 8 sessions, once every week before they begin to see results. Individual differences are expected.
What can I expect after the procedure?
  1. When used to treat stretch marks and scars, carboxy therapy is relatively painless. This is because scar tissue doesn’t have nerves. You may feel and itching sensation as the stretch marks are distended during the procedure. The itchiness should resolve in about 5 minutes.
  2. When used to treat cellulite and fatty deposits, people may feel pressure during the injection, like the sensation felt during a blood pressure test. This is caused by expanding gas. Treated areas will feel warm and tingly after the treatment for up to 24 hours, as the carbon dioxide gas does its job and circulation improves. However, you should be able to perform your normal routine after the procedure is over.
