PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

Process

At La Sante, the treatment can be delivered in three variations. Option one is the plasma being delivered via a cannula in a few points of entry.

Option two is in combination with micro-needling. With a derma pen or micro roller, your practitioner will create controlled injury to the skin, infusing the plasma over the top the injury, resulting in the production of new collagen. This option is particularly suited for those wanting to treat acne scars and minimise open pore size.

The third option uses fine needles to deposit small amounts of PRP across the area to be treated.

You can expect to see results within a number of weeks after the treatment. We recommend 1 treatment per month for the first 3 months, then 3 to 4 treatments per year to achieve and maintain desired results.

Before the procedure, please meet with Dr Soliman and our experienced practitioners to discuss what treatment option is best for you.

To begin, a topical anesthetic cream will be applied to the area to ensure you remain comfortable throughout the treatment.

A small amount of blood will be taken, preferably from the arm. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma.

Depending on what option you choose, the procedure will vary in steps.

Overall, the plasma will be carefully deposited into the tissue resulting in a restoration of volume and collagen growth.

Preparation

Inform Dr Soliman of any prescriptions and over-the-counter medications you are taking before the procedure.

Avoid medications that prolong bleeding such as aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen or blood thinners. Paracetamol is suitable should you require any pain relief.

If you are seeking PRP to treat hair loss, wash your hair on the day of your treatment but refrain from using any hair products.

As PRP therapy involves drawing blood, it is important to eat a meal before your procedure to avoid lightheadedness.

Aftercare

Avoid washing the treated area for 48 hours post-treatment. After 48 hours, you can incorporate hair and skincare products back into your routine and continue with topical medications.

Cease the use of anti-inflammatory pain medication; your GP may prescribe an alternative pain medication that will assist in the healing process.

If you experience swelling or pain, please use a cold compress a few times a day for 10 to 20 minutes at a time to help decrease post-injection pain and swelling.

We also recommend that you avoid alcohol, caffeine, hot drinks and spicy food for 24 hours, as these may exacerbate bruising and swelling.

If you have received treatment for PRP, avoid excess sun exposure or solarium use for 24 hours.
